The ‘Taco Truck’ is thought to have originated in 1974, when Raul Martinez converted an old ice cream truck into a mobile taco making station and parked it outside of a Los Angeles bar (JSTOR Daily). Today they are all over the US enticing us with their affordable foods such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more. The beauty of taco trucks comes from having to find your own favourite one near you, whether you read food blogs, local forums, or just try one whenever you see one (or at least the first you find when you are hungry). My personal favourite in Chapel Hill/Carrboro has to be Garanchas Rivera but you’ll have to find yours for yourself! Top Tip: You might want to research which meat you like in advance as it is often in Spanish and don’t forget to bring cash!
